Thoughts as I Launch a Tech Startup
I never thought I’d sit down to write a journal-entry blog post, but here I am—almost free-forming my thoughts as my fingers move across the keyboard. And I find myself here after starting to write an email newsletter but quickly realizing I had so much more to say than would fit in that format. Because how could I possibly capture all my thoughts and emotions about launching a tech startup in just one paragraph?
Spoiler alert: If you didn’t know, I’m launching a tech startup this spring! It’s called Enji.
Where was I? Yes—casually dropping big news on you.
Let me start by saying launching a startup is incredibly hard work. Especially because there is no way for you to say “that’s not my responsibility”. Everything is your responsibility when you are the Founder of a tech company. Things you don’t know, you have to learn. Things that break your brain, you have to push through. Things that seem so abstract, you have to make real. And that’s the space I’m currently living in. Learning, pushing through, and making this crazy idea I had a reality.
Because the crazy idea is incredibly worth it to me because it’s about giving you the solutions to all the problems that have stood in your way—and you’ve asked me to try and solve. And for years that has been me brainstorming ideas, creating strategies, writing words, and project managing myself (and clients) to make sure it gets done.
But I’m only one person. And so many of you need marketing support.
So that’s what we’re building with Enji. A way for you to have all the confidence when it comes to marketing without needing to wait for a spot on my calendar. Something that makes it easy for you to get started on your own—but still work with a team or consultant to make sure it’s 100% where you want it to be and getting done. But most of all? Something that’s built to fit in your overloaded schedule but make it all of the sudden feel like marketing is a lot easier to do.
And that (honestly) feels like a lot of pressure. Granted, it’s pressure I am putting on myself. But that is because I really want you to feel like you’re doing your business justice on the marketing front—and stop feeling like it’s a stressor.
So as I start counting down the days to when we push Enji out into the real world, know that I’m here…mostly sitting alone in my home office and at my computer…determined to create something that makes it easy to win the marketing game—and relentlessly in pursuit of the solution for you.
P.S. Don’t judge this piece for grammar and typos—I told you I was free-forming it!
