One of the things I love the most about my clients is that I get to work with women who are masters of their craft and Tam Ashworth, owner and lead stylist at Isari Flower Studio + Event Design, is definitely the queen of flowers.
Tam’s studio is a breathtaking space on North Cedros in Solana Beach and I never cease to be inspired when I walk through the door. With a background in interior design, she designed the studio from its bare bones with Cindy Courson to match her flare for color, texture, and pattern.
I am in the studio A LOT taking pictures of arrangements, pulling photographs, and juggling just some of the one hundred balls that Tam has in the air but what is most fun is when I get to play florist. Every week, we sit down to create a flower mandala – something to set intentions, remind ourselves of goodness and spread positivity. It is always a collaborative event that starts with me pulling scraps out of the green bin (we only use scraps and it is a small, albeit, short lived way for us to create art from trash). Then Tam and Vivian, one of her floral designers, jump in and play!
It is so much fun to see how the mandalas get transformed. Another leaf here. Another petal there. Take that out and put this in. But the result is always the same – art!
Want to play florist too? Tam hosts monthly floral classes where she teaches the art of floral arranging. Visit the website (www.isariflowerstudio.com) to see the schedule and treat yourself to a beautiful night out!
